Recently, I went to the Furiade in Maassluis. It was the 42nd edition of the Furieade festival. Where they suprisingly had a book stand this year. The Furieade, held in Maassluis every year, is a maritime festival that commemorates the city's abundant maritime legacy and presents a diverse array of activities and attractions.
The following is what you can anticipate and participate in every year:
Showcases of variety of historic ships
Nautical parades
Food & drinks
Craft markets
Fireworks display
Family friendly fair
Going back to the book stand, it stood out to me straightaway. I passed it once thinking it was nothing special. However, on my way back I decided to take a look anyway. The owner immediately asked me what kind of books I like to read. According to that they recommend "House of Marionne" by J. Elle. I was intrigued, but I got scared off because it had 400 pages.
I would like to talk a little more about the company before I continue. And before you ask yourself, no this is not sponsored. Once Upon a Bookshop is a book company that is based in The Netherlands. They sell Dutch books as well as English. Not only do they sell books but you can also join their bookclub on Fable. There you can vote for the book of the month, discuss with fellow readers and get your hands on the book with a discount. It is also possible to reach out to them if book stands are wanted during an event.
Now continuing about my experience during
the festival, before I rejected the book (that was recommended to me) the owner also mentioned that they were selling book boxes. Compared to other book boxes, this one is not a subscription. It is possible to buy the box with just the hardcover book or an advanced version with more goodies. At the festival they had a lot of variety books, from romance to fantasy. I actually wanted to finish my TBR (to be read) list first before buying a new book again. However, I could not help it and ended up purchasing one book. Vote for the poll below which one you think I ended up buying. I will post the results later on Instagram. Do not forgot to follow me on there to be up to date!
When looking at the image above, which book do you think I ended up buying?
